Home of the artists and the heart of the bohemian life « par excellence » the Butte Montmartre is known throughout the world for its colourful little streets winding up the hill and for its past linked to some of the most illustrious painters.

Perched on the top of the hill is the Sacré-Coeur church, a very original building in a roman-byzantine style. Once you have climbed up to the parvis of the church you can enjoy an absolutely magical view of Paris, especially beautiful at sunset. If you prefer to reach the parvis by funicular, all you need is a metro ticket ( or your carte orange or Paris Visite).

By turnig left you will reach the Place du Tertre. Since the last century, this was the favourite meeting place for painters. Now it is swamped with tourists, however the portrait painters that continue to gather here manage to give an idea of the old time magic.

It is possible to go down the hill by passing by Place des Abbesses. This will allow you to discover the less touristic part of Montmartre. All along the rue des Abbesses and the rue Lepic are several restaurants, café terraces and little bargain shops that have a few trendy things&
