Here we find imposing monuments and, amongst the magnificent buildings in the area, there are several embassies and many examples of the Art Nouveau style.

The Eiffel Tower was built for the World Fair of 1889. Originally a symbol of progress, it is now the most representative symbol of the city. Visitors can reach the second floor by climbing up the staircase. From here they can take the elevators all the way to the top. The Tower has a café-restaurant on the first floor and a gastronomic restaurant on the second floor. At the top one can visit a reconstruction of Gustave Eiffels office and enjoy a view of Paris at 300 metres high!

The Hôtel des Invalides (a former hospital built by the goodwill of Louis XIV) is the name given to the complex formed by the Hôtel des Invalides itself, the Saint Louis des Invalides Church, the Musée de l'Armée, the Musée Rodin, the Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération and the Musée des Plans-Reliefs. Napoleons tomb rests in the church.

The Champs de Mars are the gardens at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and which were used at the time for military training and processions. On sunny days they are much appreciated by the tourists that have just finished climbing up the Eiffel Tower!

The Ecole Militaire was founded under Louis XVI and we can now admire the neoclassical style of the pavillions exterior.

On the place de Fontenoy is the building that houses the UNESCO headquarters, built according to the architectural rules of the 1950s. Inside are murals painted by Picasso, ceramics made by Miro and sculptures by Henry Moore.

The 15th arrondissement is a very modern neighbourhood with a lot of offices and corporate head offices. Rue de la Convention is the heart of this very lively area and at Porte de Versailles is the large convention center of the same name.
